MY DIARY,GIVING UP SMOKING WITH CHAMPIX

I have decided to write this blog about me trying to give up smoking i thought it may help as i dont have time for support groups as my life is too full with hardly any time spare,

I have tried various different methods to pack in the nasty fags but have been unsuccessful and end up smoking more than i did before, I used NRT patches but could not give them up for no longer than 6 weeks before i started again and i suffereed with the most vivid dreams i used to wake up exhausted. Also tried going cold turkey but was back on them by the end of the week.

So i have decided to give Champix a go i have taken my first tablet this morning and did feel a little sick about 30mins after and also a bit hot headed.

i have chose my quit day to be the 11th of August as with these tablets you are supposed to quit on day 8 - 14.

The reasons to give up smoking are

1, Want to be around for my kids to grow up and not dying trying to run after them

2, Wife hates the smell and my coughing

3, I am Asthmatic and my daughter is possibly too

4, They cost a fortune enough to take the whole family on a good holiday each year

Well i must go and do some real work ill be back tomorrow to let you know how i am getting on

Well i took the tablet this morning and felt a little sick about half hour after, then my head felt rather warm about 1.5 hours after, seem to be smoking more today than usual maybe that is due to the fact that I am in charge at work for this week as my boss is on holiday.

My youngest daughter of 16 months cried most of last night as she cutting her back teath and decided to roll between me and my wife  for about 4 hours during the night (hitting me in the face and kicking me) which does not make for the best night sleeep

Dont know why but have smoked probably 39 fags today and i am sure i step up tomorrow to 2 tablets 0.5 g twice a day rather than just once in the morning.

Side affects apart from the sickness is hot head and very quick to snap at wife and kids just hope they understand that i dont mean to...

Well busy day today and to assure myself of sleep i have drank 3/4 of my fav bottle of red and hope of a better less stressful day tomorrow

Not much to say today really as i was really busy with work yesterday didn't get a chance to write on my blog, Champix is still making me feel queasy in the morning just after taking it but i seem to be smoking more than usual which i hope is just coincidence.Today was the same feeling sick after taking th tablet and had very weird dreams last night which i know is another side affect and also feeling tired but that could be down to working hard as my boss is on holiday and i am left in charge. Got to take another tablet tonight for my first time so ill see in the morning if i feel any different about having my first morning smoke with my cuppa and whether the dreams can get any weirder after taking one just before sleep.

Saturday tomorrow and day 5 of Champix so hope all starts to take its affect as Tuesday night will be my last cigarette forever hopefully, i have also decided to lay of drinking my usual few beers in the evening as i tend to smoke more with the refreshing taste of carslberg export

Well i took my first evening pill last night and still woke up wanting a cigarette in the morning i think this is probably a habitual thing rather than actually wanting one, today was quite a busy day for me as we had to take our puppy cocker-spaniel to puppy school so we can learn the basics, I mean the wife learns whilst i entertain the kids for an hour which is not easy when its raining and all im hearing every minute is that my daughter is bored(think ill go more prepared next week). Felt the usual queezeyness after taking the champix in the morning and felt it after taking in the evening.

Sunday tomorrow going to try and keep busy tomorrow and hope for good weather so i can get out and do some bits in the garden

Woke up this morning and i must say that the champix is doing something as i lasted at least an hour after waking up to have my first cig of the day and when i was smoking that, i was thinking i could have probably gone without it. The dreams last night were like an adventure is to the world of a mental patient very viviid and way out there, if it was a film it would have probably been something like Pink floyds THE WALL.

Kept myself busy today by meeting up with my Mum and taking the family and dog for a long walk along the river via the park for the kids, Champix is working as i only smoked a total of 12 cigs today compared to the usual 20-25.

Well work tomorrow so ill see how many i smoke tomorrow

Not much to say today apart from the Champix is doing its job managed to smoke only 4 cigs during the day but had another 5 when i was home, seem to be snapping at kids rather quickly, just hope that i keep that at bay especially as i go on to the 1mg twice as day tomorrow and am unsure whether the side effects will get any worse 

DAY 8

Well the 1mg have a little worse side effects on day 8 woke up at 3am and could not get back to sleep for love nor money, i was supposed to quit this morning for good but found myself in a bad mood and headed straight for the back door when i got up for a morning cig as the day went on i still only smoked about 5 cigs all day so perhaps the 1mg twice a day is having better affects i am going to give the cigs a miss completely on Friday as i have Thursday of and not being at work i think it might be a bad day to stop forever we not so much things to keep my brain from wanting a cig.

DAY 9

Got the day of today and woke up after have some more weird dreams and didnt want a cig at all but ended up having one after an hour with my cuppa i think this might be a habitual thing rather than actually needing it as after lighting it i didnt really want it. Went for a long walk today in Hockley woods it was not supposed to be 2 hrs but we got lost and ended up taking a half hour detour in which we ended up somewhere in the woods we had been before.The poor puppy "Parker" was shattered nearly ended up carrying him but he muscled on. Total cig count for today was only 5. Tomorrow is the big day and i hope i can keep myself from wanting a cig

Sorry i have not had a chance to write anything since Thursday last week , So my give up day was last Friday and guess what i have not smoked a single cigarette since Thursday night and i don't want or fancy one at all, this champix is really working for me i don't even find myself craving one or thinking about one too much, i had a few drinks over the weekend an even stood with my mates whilst they smoked and didn't want one. I just hope it all goes on like this as i am really happy about not smoking, going to they and keep writing but finding it hard to have the time with busy work and family life but i will do my best to keep it so others can benefit from reading this before they decide t quit smoking and route they will take as far as NRT or tablets

Well its the end of week two, i have not had a cigarette for two weeks today and have had no slip ups, a friend commented on my Facebook saying it was like flicking a switch from becoming smoker to non smoker and i can agree with this as i have no need or want to smoke and dont get any cravings at all. Have noticed a few side affects of the tablets i seem to get stressed a little quick and a bit snappy and am tired a lot and the pills make me feel sick after taking them but they are working for me so its all for the greater good.

Going to try and keep this blog going at least once a week now and hopefully i wil keep writing this until a year has past
